AUSTIN TWP., Mich. — Mecosta County Sheriff’s investigators figure alcohol and careless driving may’ve factored into a crash early Saturday morning that left 4 people injured.
It happened just after 4 a.m. on 170th Avenue, south of 8 Mile Road in Mecosta County’s Austin Township.
Police say the vehicle was “doing donuts” in the intersection when it struck a stop sign.
A Sheriff’s Office news release says the 21-year-old driver from Big Rapids then continued driving southbound “doing burnouts, lost control and struck a tree.”
Police say three passengers – all in their 20s – suffered non-life threatening injuries, and were taken to Spectrum Health Big Rapids for treatment. The driver suffered “very minor” injuries.
Crews from the Austin Township Fire & Rescue, and Mecosta County EMS assisted deputies at the crash scene.
