PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. — The Kent County Sheriff’s Office has identified the driver killed in a one-vehicle crash late Friday night in Plainfield Township.
It says in a news release issued late Saturday afternoon that Chadwick Kogelschatz of Rockford died in the crash around 11:16 p.m. Friday on West River Drive near Samrick Avenue, in the Belmont area.
Police say Kogelschatz, 36, was driving an F-350 pickup truck at a “high rate of speed”, when it crossed over the eastbound lanes and struck a cement wall for the White Pine Trail bridge over West River. They say he died at the scene.
No one else was in the vehicle. Police are continuing their investigation.
