Police ask witnesses to fatal pickup/pedestrian crash to call

KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A pedestrian was fatally struck by a pickup truck on December 5th in Kalamazoo Township, and police again are asking any witnesses to the crash to come forward.

Kalamazoo Township Police say in a Friday news release a 69-year-old man from Richland contacted them December 7th, saying he may’ve been the driver involved in the crash.

Police say the vehicle “has been forensically examined by the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety Crime Lab and positively identified as the vehicle involved in this crash.”

Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the accident or saw a black GMC pickup in the area where it happened to contact the Kalamazoo Township Police at (269)-567-7523 or Silent Observer at (269)-343-2100.

On Thursday, the Kalamazoo Township police released the name of the 40-year-old pedestrian who was killed in the crash: Noah Michaels of Kalamazoo.

The crash happened at about 6:00 p.m. Decemeber 5th in the 2200 block of Gull Road, according to township police.  They say offficers found Michaels dead at the scene.

Other agencies that responded to the crash were the Kalamazoo Township Fire Department, Life Ambulance and the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety.
