WAYLAND, Mich. - Northbound U.S. 131 has reopened at the Wayland exit after a pedestrian fatality.

Captain Mattice of the Allegan Co. Sheriff's Department says that they were called to the scene near the 65 mile marker on reports of a dead body on the side of the road at about 8:00 a.m.  Earlier, at about 5:00 a.m., they had been called on reports of a vehicle hitting a deer in that same area.

Mattice says that about 2:15 a.m., they received a call of a crash nearby on U.S. 131 and that the person involved in that crash had left the scene on foot.  Investigators are working to see if all three instances are connected.

The highway was closed for several hours.
