MUSKEGON COUNTY, Mich. -- Impaired driving is believed to be a factor in a head-on crash that killed one man and injured two women.
The Michigan State Police Rockford Post tells FOX 17 that the driver of the Cavalier, a 55-year-old man from Freemont passed away early Monday morning.
The incident was first reported around 8 p.m. Sunday evening.
Officials on the scene tell FOX 17 a man in a Chevy Cavalier was driving erratically and passing numerous people. We're told he tried to pass a vehicle making a right turn and hit another car head-on. Officials say the women in that vehicle had minor injuries but were taken to the hospital.
Officials say a driver that was following the Chevy Cavalier called 911.
First responders arrived on the scene in just minutes.
No names have been released.
The northbound and southbound lanes of Holton Road (M-120) were closed during the investigation, but reopened around 10:30 p.m. Sunday night.
