GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A GoFundMe campaign that raised $20 million for the border wall is being refunded to donors, according to reports.

Business Insider reports that when the campaign was started, founder Brian Kolfage promised all donations would be used to pay for a border wall between the U.S. and Mexico once the $1 billion goal was reached.

Since the goal wasn’t reached, the money will be returned to donors.

On Friday, Kolfage updated the page and introduced a non-profit titled “We Build the Wall, Inc.”

“Since the goal wasn’t reached, the money will be returned to donors.”

No, that’s not the reason. It was a given that this would never raise one billion dollars. It only raised 2% of the goal, but that was never in doubt.
The reason it was shut down, per GoFundMe:
“Now that the specific plan for the use of funds raised on the campaign has changed from what was originally stated, donors need to choose how they want their money handled.”

The donations were originally promised to be used to build the wall. The goal changed from building the wall to donating money to a newly formed LLC owned by private individuals who can spend the money any way they please with no oversight so GoFundMe shut them down. Anyone redirecting their original donations to the LLC that cannot build a wall on private property of federal property (that’s ALL the property, btw) are just double dipped by this con.

There was never ANY doubt they could raise 1 billion dollars. People don’t understand how much money that is. It’s 2% of what was raised.

Only partially true. If the donor does not want the money to go to the new ,fund the wall non-profit organization, then it will be refunded. Mine goes to the new organization.

Stop spreading fake news! At least research your topic before you report on it! The money for the wall “can be” refunded if the donors does not want to proceed. The money donated will STILL be used to build the wall! You people are pathetic!
