HOLLAND, Mich. — Six people were injured in a fire that destroyed a home in Holland Friday morning.

It happened around 9:05 a.m. at a home in the 100 block of 19th Street, near Pine Avenue.

Upon arrival, fire crews saw large flames and smoke coming from the front of the home. Five people were in the home at the time of the fire, but they had gotten out by the time firefighters arrived.

Firefights later found out two women in the home were rescued by two men who were driving by at the time of the blaze.

Three people suffered serious injuries and were taken to an area hospital. As of Friday evening, one of the people was listed in serious but stable condition, and two are listed as stable.

Two other occupants and one of the male rescuers were treated for minor injuries at the scene.

Firefighters were at the scene until around 2:30 p.m.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but fire officials say early indications show the origin and cause may be in a living room.
