Body found in burned car in Muskegon County

MUSKEGON COUNTY, Mich. — Deputies are investigating after they found a body in a burned vehicle early this morning.

UPDATE: The Muskegon County Sheriff’s Department told FOX 17 they responded to report of a burned vehicle located in a remote area. Officials say the vehicle was found near the Village of Lakewood Club in Dalton Township. Upon arrival, they found skeletal remains in the trunk.

Detectives tracked down the registered owner of the vehicle and discovered an additional crime scene at their Montague address.

The Sheriff’s Office are assisting the Montague Police Department along with the Michigan State Police, and believe that the victim found in the burned vehicle was specifically targeted. They are still investigating the additional crime scene in Montague.
