KENT COUNTY, Mich. — The recent fluctuation in temperatures has led to some beautiful scenery around West Michigan in between the ice and snow.

On Wednesday, Andrew Sietsema said he was pruning trees when he discovered apple-shaped ice hanging from the branches.

Sietsema said it was cold enough outside that the ice covering the apples hadn’t melted yet, but warm enough to turn the apples into mush. When he pruned a tree, mush would slip out of the bottom and leave a “ghost apple.”
