EVERGREEN TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Residents of eight houses were evacuated late Thursday night as a precaution after a vehicle struck a gas line.
Crystal Township Fire Chief Chris Johnston said at the scene around 11:30 p.m. Thursday that repairs will be completed by two Consumers Energy crews “in less than an hour”.
There was no indication how many people were evacuated. Reporters were kept back about a half-mile from the scene. The fire department had posted an alert for the public to stay back that far from Cedar Lake and Stanton roads.
The crash happened on Stanton Road between Wicker and Vickeryville roads.
Nobody was injured in the crash.
