GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A patent filed by Amazon may indicate what’s to come in the future of home delivery.
The approved patent outlines plans to add robots to customers’ homes that assist in picking up packages.
The robot would essentially wait inside a home or residence until an Amazon order arrives. Once a delivery truck drops off an order at the curb, the robot would go out to retrieve it on its own.
According to the patent, the robots could service individual homes, larger buildings like an apartment complex, or even an entire neighborhood.
So far, Amazon has yet to announce an actual robot like the patent describes.
