GRPD rules suspicious deaths as homicides; victims identified
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Police have ruled the deaths of two people found dead inside a Grand Rapids home as homicides by gunshot wound.
The bodies of 47-year-old Charletta Baber-Bey and 25-year-old Keyona Griffin were found Wednesday inside their residence in the 500 block of Sheldon Avenue SE.
Grand Rapids police are searching for Derrell Brown, 45, who has been named a person of interest in the case. Police say he lived at the home with the victims, and that he was dating Barber-Bey before she was killed.
Investigators said Brown hasn’t been seen or heard from since the victims were found.
Brown has several aliases including Darryl Robinson, Carter Brown, Derrick Brown, Michael Richardson, Marcus Wright and Jay. He is described as standing 5-foot-8 and weighing 180 pounds.
He’s got multiple unrelated warrants and should be considered armed and dangerous. If you see him or have any information Silent Observer at 616-774-2345.
Former neighbor and friend of the victims’ family, Christina Guyton said, “I had to come down here and pay my respect [sic], my condolences out of the love that I have for her. It’s just being returned. I wouldn’t want to be in her shoes.”
