ZEELAND, Mich — The portion of 64th Avenue north of Chicago Drive will be closed while CSX Railroad fixes emergency repair measures at the crossing there.

Railroad ballast, made from rocks, was used at first, but has since been deemed unacceptable by the Ottawa County Road Commission.

Officials state they have to wait until asphalt plants reopen to finish the project, which will leave 64th Avenue closed until after April 15th.

Traffic will be detouring to 72nd Avenue and Quincy Street in the meantime.
