GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Grand Rapids Police Department says a 23-year-old woman was sitting in a vehicle Wednesday night, when it was fired upon near S. Division Avenue and Franklin Street.

The GRPD provided an update to FOX 17 on Thursday morning, saying the woman suffered a minor leg injury. She later showed up at Mercy Health St. Mary’s Hospital, around 9 o’clock Wednesday night.

But she was not able provide a suspect description or any possible motive.

” The suspect was on foot so no vehicle has been connected to this shooting,” says GRPD. ” A suspicious vehicle was seen driving by just prior to the shooting, but we have nothing to connect that vehicle to the suspect on foot.”

Investigators are still working to determine the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
