Lightning strike causes fire at Battle Creek Airport

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – An airport building in Battle Creek was hit by lightning early Thursday morning.

The city-owned Airport Operations Building at the Battle Creek Airport suffered damage to roof decking around a skylight, shortly after 7:00 a.m.

Several Battle Creek fire crews responded to the alarm. Investigators exposed part of the roof to make sure the fire hadn’t spread into the structure.

Normal operations have resumed at the airport.
