HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Fire at a church in Holland Township Friday morning will impact Easter services this weekend.
The pastor of the church said he was the one who saw smoke and flames coming from the church.
"It's 3 a.m. and I looked out the window and I saw smoke coming from the church building," Mike Scholten said. "I walked over and opened the doors here to the side of the building and smoke came out, then I called 911."
It took multiple fire agencies from Ottawa County to put out the fire, which started around 3 a.m. Friday at the Lakeshore Church of Christ, located 711 Butternut Dr. in Holland Township.
While the cause of the fire is unknown, and an inspection is needed in order to determine the extent of the damage and when normal services can resume, pastor Scholten tells FOX 17 Easter service will be held, as announced, in their Fellowship Hall.
