GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Consumers Energy reports a power outage in the general vicinity of 28th Street SE and Breton Road in Grand Rapids, and some traffic lights may be out as a result.
The Consumers Energy Outage Map indicates power first was reported out at 3:47 p.m. Friday, and the estimated time of restoration is 8 p.m. Friday. About 1,200 customers were impacted, as of 6:20 p.m.
The cause of the outage has not been determined yet, but peak winds were gusting up to 36 miles per hour in Grand Rapids on Friday night, with a Wind Advisory in effect until 11:59 p.m. Friday for Kent, Ottawa, Ionia, and Clinton counties.
The outages are in an area bounded roughly by Burton Street on the north, 28th Street on the south, Breton Road on the west and Broadmoor Avenue/M-37 on the east.
Police dispatchers were looking into reports of traffic lights being out on Breton at 28th and 29th streets.
Meanwhile, about 70 Consumers customers were in the dark southwest of Byron Center, between Byron Road and Adams Street, just west of Wilson Avenue. Power was lost around 4 p.m. there, and predicted restoration time was 8 p.m. Friday.
Consumers Energy also was working to restore power Friday night to a section of St. Joseph County, south and east of Three Rivers. More than a thousand outages were reported in Centreville, as well as part of White Pigeon, Sturgis, Sherman and Colon townships.
The lights first went out there at 2:03 p.m. Friday, and Consumers was projecting they’d be back on by 9:15 p.m. Friday.
