Vehicle crashes into west side funeral home

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Police say a two-vehicle crash ended with one car striking a west side building.

Grand Rapids police say that the crash happened at the intersection of 2nd Street and Stocking Avenue NW at about 9:00 a.m. A westbound vehicle on 2nd ran the stop sign at Stocking and hit a northbound vehicle. That vehicle then swerved and crashed into the Arsulowicz Funeral Home on Stocking.

The driver who crashed into the building was taken to the hospital with a foot injury. The other driver was not hurt, but was cited for disobeying a stop sign. No one in the building was hurt.

An employee of the funeral home told FOX 17 they working to determine the extent of the damage to their building. Some bricks were knocked off the exterior and some of the furniture inside was pushed around. Operations at the Stocking Avenue building will be shifted to their other two locations for a time.
