GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.  — A three-vehicle crash early Saturday morning killed a woman and shut down a stretch of US-131 in Grand Rapids.

It happened around 3:39 a.m. in the southbound lanes south of Hall Street.

Grand Rapids Police told FOX 17 two cars and a semi-truck were involved. A preliminary investigation showed a vehicle lost control in the right lane during a heavy rain, went into the adjacent lanes and was struck by the other two vehicles.

Police say a 30-year-old woman from Wyoming was declared dead at the scene. Her name isn’t being released until police notify her family.

Investigators say the drivers of the other two vehicles were not injured, and provided some witness information to police.

The southbound lanes of US-131 were shut down for about five hours. They reopened around 8:30 a.m. Saturday.
