UPDATE: Power has returned to much of Kent County, though several hundred customers in Cedar Springs are still being affected.

KENT COUNTY, Mich. — Thousands of people are waking up in the dark in nearly half-a-dozen cities.
Consumers Energy representatives are identifying overnight storms as the root of the problem.
Heavily impacted areas include Cedar Springs, Sand Lake, Belding, and Algoma Township. Other outages have been reported throughout Greater Grand Rapids and have crews assigned to those problems as well.
Representatives say they are investigating each of the cases as they can but cannot give an estimated time as to when power will return.
