One person dead in shooting in Muskegon Heights

MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, Mich. — Police in Muskegon Heights say they are investigating a shooting Wednesday afternoon.

The shooting happened on 6th Street between Broadway and Sherman avenues.

Police came to the scene around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday and found 18-year-old Derek Peterson in his car with a gunshot wound to his head.

Investigators are still working to determine what led up to the shooting. Information on possible suspects wasn't immediately available.
