One person in custody after shooting in Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – One person is in custody after a shooting Thursday morning in Kalamazoo.

Captain Brad Misner of the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety tells FOX 17 that shooting happened about 10:30 a.m. in the 1100 block of Lane Boulevard. One person suffered a non-life-threatening injury.

Misner says that at about 10:30 a.m., a 19-year-old man arrived at KDPS Station #2 on Bryant Street with a gunshot wound to his shoulder and neck area. He was able to take police to the 1100 block of Lane Boulevard where the shooting took place. He also told police who shot him.

Police were able to determine that the suspect had left the area, but found the suspect’s vehicle in the 1000 block of W. North Street. The 22-year-old suspect was taken into custody and is expected to be charged with Assault with Intent to Murder.

KDPS detectives are still investigating the incident.
