HAMLIN TWP. Mich –A man from West Olive has drowned after falling from a boat in Mason County on Saturday.

The Mason County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were dispatched to the “narrows” area of Hamlin Lake around 1 p.m., after getting reports of a capsized boat.

The body of Robert James Conklin was recovered after 7 p.m. on Monday.

Emergency crews responded and learned while the boat did not capsize, two people had fallen overboard from an 18-foot bass style fishing boat. One female was rescued by fellow boaters, while the man, a 54-year-old from West Olive, went under the water and didn’t resurface.
