GRANDVILLE, Mich -- Grandville sophomore quarterback Ian Sanders connected with senior tight end Rickie Ward on a 2-point conversion in the 4th quarter Saturday in a 22-21 win over East Kentwood.

The game was resumed at 10 a.m. Saturday morning after lightning postponed it Friday night.

"As soon as I went home my wife asked what are you going to do if you score?" Grandville head coach Eric Stiegel said. "I said we're going for two, we knew the play we were going to call, it worked, defense came up with stops and offense ground it out big win for us."

Zac VanderWest scored on a short touchdown run to setup the conversion.

"It feels great," Ward said. "We came in 4-0 and coming with them on our mind coming out winning, 5-0 now, 2-0 in conference and I mean it's an amazing feeling."

The Grandville defense was able to stop the Falcons and hold on for the win late.
