Chick-fil-A closing first England location just days after opening

BERKSHIRE, England – Shortly after Chick-fil-A opened its first restaurant in the United Kingdom, the location is set to close amid pressure from gay rights groups over past donations to anti-LGBTQ groups.

Amid calls for boycott, shopping center The Oracle decided eight days after Chick-fil-A opened that “the right thing to do” was to let the restaurant’s six-month trial lease expire, The BBC reports.

The family-owned business, based in Atlanta, has been the criticized in the past for helping fund groups that condemn homosexuality. Think Progress reports that Chick-fil-A donated $1.8 million to “discriminatory groups” in 2017.

The company’s CEO, Dan T. Cathy, also made comments in 2012 about gay marriage that ignited a backlash online.

Chick-fil-A addressed protests over donations, saying in a March statement that the Chick-fil-A Foundation’s giving “helps with economic mobility of young people by focusing on homelessness and poverty, education, and community revitalization, and is done with no political or social agenda.”

I hate how cry babies cant accept that we all have different beliefs and opinions, and push their beliefs on everyone else. If you dont agree with them your labeled a racist or homophobic. If you cant accept me why should i accept you?

    • Brontae

I will fully accept any person who’s objective is not to hate. Chick-fil-a, however, has donated to conversion therapy camps and a faction in Uganda that made it punishable by death to be gay. Imagine if a country did that to straight people. Everyone would lose their minds. If you are hateful due to the way a person is born such as being gay or the color of their skin I hope you can make that right with your higher power. My religion teaches to love unconditionally and to deny negative forces. People who hate me because I don’t care if you are a man or a woman when it comes to romantic interests are not truly worth thinking about. I surely will not be giving them the money I worked for because that would be supporting hate.

So in your Chick-fil-A is allowed to campaign and support campaigns that try to prevent people and laws that contradict their beliefs. But people who then push back against this by protesting Chick-fil-A are “cry babies”.
Kind of a screwed up view there.

Telling people how they should think, where they should go, and what they should eat is expected of extreme activist liberal lefties. They don’t see how doing so makes them Nazis. I’m gay myself, and I’ll eat where I damn well please, thanks very much.

This all total BS. Facts, proff of any of this actually being a real story? I deal with chick-fil-a on a daily basis from a business level and there is NO HATE or DISCRIMINATION from them. Those 2 accusations are actually what they deal with every day. Just because a company stands on its beliefs does not make them homophobe, anti anything ,or evil people. it makes them the same as you, someone who wants to fight for what is right. And what is right in their eyes vs what is right in your eyes doesn’t seem hatred spewed at them any more than you voicing your opinion and beliefs. Lea vfc e the9 alone and let em have a great restaurant that helps many youth. or is that your problem that they may be influenced in a biblical Christian way and thats what’s really not ok?

A simple google search will tell you that this company has donated to anti gay organizations as late as 2017. Stop expecting others to do your research for you.

I get paid over $90 per hour working from home with 2 kids at home. I never thought I’d be able to do it but my best friend earns over 10k a month doing this and she convinced me to try. The potential with this is endless. Heres what I’ve been doing,…….

Well, that makes it REALLY simple for me. Instead of Burger King, McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Wendy’s, etc., it will be Chic Fil A EVERY time. Win Win for CFA and my family.
