PORTAGE, Mich. — Michigan State Police is investigating after a pedestrian was killed on eastbound I-94 in Kalamazoo County.
It happened around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday when a driver struck the pedestrian near mile marker 78 in Portage.
The pedestrian, identified as 38-year-old Omai Bell, from the Detroit area, died from his injuries at the scene.
Police say dispatchers took two 911 calls prior to the crash referencing a man wearing all black clothing near the roadway.
The road has since reopened.
