Alyssa Hearin

Morning Anchor/Reporter

Born and raised in Flushing, MI, Alyssa has always had a passion for TV as she grew up watching the local news daily and taking several station visits to job shadow and sit through newscasts.

Alyssa’s quest for a career in broadcasting led her to Central Michigan University where she graduated with a degree in Broadcast & Cinematic Arts and a minor in Journalism and American Sign Language.

Her first job was at WPBN-TV 7&4 News in Traverse City, MI taking her viewers on adventures throughout northern Michigan as a reporter and anchor.

In 2018, Alyssa received an award from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters in the Community Involvement Category for a new segment she started called “Food Fight Fridays”. This was a friendly competition for schools to not only gather the most food but raise student awareness about food insecurity in the area. That segment collected more than 49,000 pounds to help feed those in need in West Michigan.

From breaking news to the must see events, Alyssa is passionate about sharing your story. If you see her around town make sure to say hello and feel free to shoot her story ideas at Ahearin@fox17online.com.
