    CATO TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A Montcalm County deputy was airlifted to a Grand Rapids hospital late Friday after he was shot with a crossbow.   • Man stabbed in Battle Creek, suspect in custody

    BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — One person has been arrested after stabbing a man in Calhoun County. According to Battle Creek Police, a 59-year-old man was stabbed in the 200 block of North 24th Street. It happened just before 1 early Sunday morning. The man was taken to a local hospital and his injuries are considered non-life-threatening, according to police. The suspect is in custody at the Calhoun County Jail.

    Police: Woman arrested after stabbing man in chest

    GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — One man is recovering after being stabbed by a woman on the northeast side of Grand Rapids early Sunday morning. It happened just after 12:30a.m. on Caledonia Street near Taylor Avenue. Police say the two were fighting when the woman stabbed the man in the chest. His injury is non-life-threatening, according to police. The woman was arrested. Her identity is being withheld pending arraignment. The incident is still under investigation.

  • Missing Kent County woman found alive with minor injuries

    COURTLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. — The Kent County Sheriff’s Department reports a missing Courtland Township woman has been found alive. Police said Heather Barcarella was found in a wooded area near her home with very minor injuries Saturday afternoon. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Barcarella’s family reported her missing Friday evening after realizing she wasn’t home and didn’t have her personal belongings or required medication with her.

  • Family escapes Newaygo County house fire

    GRANT TOWNSHIP, Mich. —Firefighters responded Sunday morning to a “fully involved” fire at a home in Newaygo County. Dispatchers said the fire started just after 4 a.m. at the home in the 3400 block of West 104th Avenue, near Wisner and Bagley. The family living there made it out safely, no one was injured, according to dispatchers. It is unclear what started the fire.

    PORTAGE, Mich.– One person was treated for smoke inhalation during a fire at a home Saturday morning. Dispatchers say the residence was “fully involved” in flames just before 5 AM on the 5100 block of Kibby’s Circle in Portage.
