EAST GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — More than 100,000 Michiganders have epilepsy, and about 30 percent of them have a type that’s resistant to medications.  One mother in Kent County says a form of medical marijuana is the only thing that works to control her teenage daughter’s violent seizures. Sixteen-year-old Laine Richards has been on almost every anti-seizure drug combination that doctors could come up with, none of which stopped her seizures or didn’t have serious side effects. Five times a […]

The Nielsen company said that’s a 20 percent drop from the 33 million who watched the 2017 show, which was also hosted by Jimmy Kimmel. Oscar viewership is often tied to the box office muscle of the big nominees, and best picture winner “The Shape of Water” only grossed $57.4 million in […]

PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Residents of Plainfield Township gathered for a monthly town hall meeting Monday, and things started out much differently than they usually do. After a closed meeting with its attorney, the township board passed a resolution to authorize spending $400,000 on a water plant filter to remove PFAS, contaminants that may potentially cause cancer. The township’s attorney says they’re doing this to ease people’s minds, even though they say there’s no problem in the first place, despite […]
