High School Football Scoreboard

Zach grew up locally near Dorr in Allegan County and is proud to be a graduate of Hopkins High School. In fact, Zach helped the FOX 17 sports team for a two years during his high school days and became a freelance sports cameraman for the station at the age of 18. After high school, he attended the University of Toledo in Ohio graduating cum laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Media Communication. Zach has returned to FOX 17 after four years with the Buckeye Cable Sports Network in Toledo in which he was mainly a reporter and producer. In his free time, Zach enjoys time with family and friends, attending or watching sports, especially the Lions, Red Wings, Griffins, Tigers, Whitecaps and Pistons and also likes to spend time outdoors.

    KALAMAZOO, Mich. — LeVante Bellamy would carry the load for Tim Lester and Western Michigan on Saturday night. Bellamy would run for 192 yards and three touchdowns in the Broncos’ 57-10 win over Georgia State on a night where the Western offense would rush for 450 yards. The Lakers begin GLIAC play by traveling to Northwood in week three.

    ZEELAND, Mich. — It’s not rare for high school football teams to use a female kicker. What is unusual, however, is for that kicker to hit a field goal in a big game, especially that of a distances of 30 yards. Zeeland East sophomore Paige Westra put the Chix on the board in the first half with a 30-yard field goal against Grand Rapids Catholic Central.

    East Grand Rapids and Muskegon are gearing up for the third matchup in the past calendar year on Friday night. The Big Reds defeated the Pioneers twice in 2018, including in an opening-round playoff game, 42-35. In this week’s edition of Sounds of the Game, East Grand Rapids head coach Casey Longo and Muskegon head coach Shane Fairfield are mic’d up as they prepare for Friday’s game.

    GRAND HAVEN, Mich. — Grand Haven is ranked eighth in Division 1 in the state volleyball ranking, but the Buccaneers had no easy test on Thursday night against one of the top Division 2 teams in the state, Hamilton. The Buccaneers would drop the first set 25-17 before rebounding with a 25-21 win in set two and 15-10 in the decisive third set.
