GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Cedar Springs came away with its first two wins of the season in perfect timing for a Cornerstone Holiday Tournament division championship. The Red Hawks defeated Mona Shores, 49-44 on Thursday before beating Potter's House, 52-51 on Saturday evening.
"Just having grit," head coach James Telman said on their keys, "believing in each other, we have some history of trying to get over some humps and I believe that these guys are starting to believe and learning to play together."
Bryce Marvel had a team-high 20 points in the victory to help the Red Hawks prevail.
"We worked hard on defense, they made a lot of threes in the first half and we worked on locking down in the second half and that's how we did it," Marvel said. "It feels amazing, we haven't taken hardware home in a really long time and it feels amazing to do that."
