and last updated

Churches may be closed this Easter, but the Coldwater Ministrial Association' and the Capri Drive-in theater have teamed up to hold a unique Easter day church service.

The theater owner tells FOX 17, more than a dozen pastors are working together to make one massive service using the theater's f-m radio equipment and despite the theaters closure they did get a special go ahead.

" I got a call a couple days ago and Mike Shirkey, our senator, had given us approval through the governor's office, and I thank Governor Whitmer for that, and so it's a go." No one is allowed out of their cars, so restrooms remain closed. That's s about it," the owner said. "We broadcast through the FM stereo sound, so it will come right through the people's cars."

Despite the theaters closure, they were given the green light with a few rules. For example, the bathrooms won't be open.

Of course, it's free to attend. the service is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. on Easter Sunday at Capri Drive-in on US12 west of Coldwater. Organizers say they plan to have the gates opens around 8:30 a.m.
