SPARTA, Mich. — So many high school students, especially seniors, aren't experiencing the end of their school year in a normal way. Sparta High School seniors are staying positive, making a video showing how they're coming together, even while forced to be apart.
The video, which showcases nearly 30 students, was Hailey Clark and Danielle Brittner's idea.
“I came along some other videos that I’d seen, and it gave me inspiration, and I thought of Danielle, so I just asked her,” Hailey Clark said.
Danielle and Hailey quickly got to work.
“I actually won most school spirit at the high school," Brittner said. "So it was like, maybe people will actually listen to me."
The video commemorates the milestones and difficulites the class of 2020 has already been through. Most of the seniors were born the same year as 9/11.
"After we got everybody on board, I started writing a script, which was kind of hard." Brittner said. "I was like, 'how can I get as many people involved?', trying to include every different kind of sport, theatre kids, band kids."
The video also highlights the moments seniors are missing out on, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“It’s sad, it’s really sad," Clark said. "We’re missing out on a lot. Prom, graduation, awards night, not being able to say goodbye to our teachers and our friends."
Still, this group of students say they can get through this, and anything the future has in store.
“I definitely think it’s going to take a toll on us, but our senior class has been through a lot," Brittner said. "So I definitely think that we’re going to be okay."
