Hi everyone -- Thanks for clicking to learn a bit more about me!
I joined FOX 17 in April 2020, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. An interesting time to start a new job, but nonetheless, I couldn’t be more excited to continue my reporting career in Grand Rapids.
Before joining FOX 17, I got my start in South Bend, Indiana where I worked as a morning reporter at ABC57 for over two years. I developed my skills as a journalist by covering everything from lake effect snow and Notre Dame football to this guy named Mayor Pete and his bid for president.
I’m a proud alumna of the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University. I graduated with a degree in Broadcast Journalism in December 2017.
I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I’m very proud to call myself a “Yinzer” -- I add French fries to my sandwiches and salads and I love anything made out of steel or colored black and gold. The people I grew up around sparked my interest in journalism. The people of Pittsburgh have a certain charm to them, and I loved listening, reading, and watching each person’s story.
With that being said, I think each person has a unique story that deserves to be told. I love telling stories in a way that allows me to establish a relationship and connect with each viewer. I want to know what you want to see. What do you care about? If you want to share, please send me an email at marisa.oberle@fox17online.com, message me on Facebook or Twitter! Feel free to reach out to me if you just want to say hello as well!
Outside of work, I love to spend my days along the lakeshore with my boyfriend and Golden Retriever, River. I’m also passionate about healthy eating and exercising, so you’ll probably find me cooking or lifting.
