Work is underway to open the Spectrum Health Women’s Health & Wellness Center, which will make it easier for women to receive a broader range of preventive, specialty and lifestyle services dedicated to their specific health needs.

One of many health offerings will include preventative cardiology appointments. Dr. Thomas Boyden joined the Morning Mix via Zoom to discuss what this means for future patients.

Preventive Cardiology is a combination of lifestyle and medical strategies that, when followed, can help lower the risk of heart attack and stroke. Spectrum Health works closely with other providers to make sure all of your health needs are addressed.

According to the CDC, heart disease is the leading cause of death for women in the U.S. Learning to live a healthy lifestyle that incorporates good nutrition weight management and plenty of exercise plays a big role in preventing and controlling risk.

After reviewing history, family history, cardiac risk markers, and lab work. The patient will set individual goals to help further their success and cardiac health.
