WEESAW TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A Michigan State Police Trooper pulled a man's body from Rug Lake after seeing an overturned boat from the road Thursday night.
The trooper was driving on Gardner Road near Weesaw Township when they saw a boat upside down in the water. Residents of a nearby home said their relative had been fishing in the boat earlier.
The trooper took a canoe to the boat and found the body of an 82 year-old man. The victim was not wearing a life jacket and one was not found in or near the boat at the time.
MSP tells FOX 17 they do not know how the man ended up in the water. An autopsy will be done at Western Michigan University Medical Center to determine cause of death.
