(WXYZ) — The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services says the state has distributed about 520,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
MDHHS says numbers are lagging behind reality - the providers administered more doses than reported to state. MDHHS explained the lag by saying the doses distributed are listed by where they were sent to, while the doses administered are associated with the home address of the person vaccinated, which is unclear on the dashboard.
The state also reports that Michigan is showing continued decline in hospitalizations, but a slight rise in case numbers. The percent positivity rate reached a low of 8.2% on Dec. 27, 2020, but increased to 9.6% in its most recent seven-day average.
Cases have dropped for the sixth week in a row; the current daily case rate remains more than two times the rate from early October.
However, officials said the state is not expecting to see the continued decline that we have seen in recent weeks.

The state says the total number of active outbreaks is down 9 percent from the previous week.
All regions are now below 30% of ICU beds being occupied by COVID-19 patients, MDHHS reported. However, state officials are concerned that a decrease in ER visits by suspected COVID-19 patients is ending.
MDHHS has seen testing volume decline to about 36,000 tests a day.
