HARTFORD, Mich. — The Van Buren/Cass District Health Department received its Phase 1A allocation of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, a news release said Tuesday.
Health department staff, who will be vaccinating other individuals, were the first to receive the vaccine last week on Dec. 23.
Clinic begin this week for Emergency Medical Service workers, first responders and health care workers who are not being vaccinated through a hospital or other organization.

Though Phase 1A clinics are only open to specific priority groups, the department is looking ahead to future phases and asking critical infrastructure employers and direct care workers not affiliated with a hospital or other organization to complete a vaccination survey.
That survey can be found here.
Completing the form helps the health department plan logistics, such as clinic locations and vaccine order volume, as well as provides easy access to communication when necessary.
Distribution of the vaccine throughout the state will be a phased approach, as it will be several months before enough of the vaccine has been received for everyone to get it.
