39,262 coronavirus cases confirmed in Michigan

LANSING, Mich. — The number of positive cases of the coronavirus in Michigan has increased to 39,262.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) reported the latest numbers of cases in the coronavirus outbreak this afternoon.

The number of cases has increased 1,052 from yesterday, when there were 38,210 statewide cases. Yesterday, the state reported 432 new cases.

The state says there have been 3,567 coronavirus deaths in Michigan.

The number of deaths has increased 160 from yesterday, when there were 3,407 statewide deaths. Yesterday, the state reported 92 new deaths.

Statewide, 8,342 people have recovered from the virus as of April 24. A person is considered "recovered" by the state if they are "30 days out from their onset of illness."

In the U.S., there are 1,003,328 cases, and there have been 57,533 deaths — while 112,315 people have recovered, according to the global COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
