HARTFORD, Mich. — A person with the B.1.1.7 variant of COVID-19 was identified in Van Buren County late Sunday evening .
The SARS-CoV-2 B.1.1.7 variant is believed to have come from the United Kingdom and has since been detected in many countries and states.
The first Michigan case of the B.1.1.7 COVID-19 variant was identified in Washtenaw County in January.
Further details about this person are not yet known, and the investigation is ongoing.
Van Buren/Cass District Health Department (VBCDHD) is asking individuals to continue to take precautions against COVID-19, especially as new variants of the virus that cause COVID-19 become more prevalent.
These important precautions include: ·
-Getting vaccinated for COVID-19 when available and eligible
-Wearing a mask around others
-Staying six feet apart from others
-Washing hands often
-Ventilating indoor spaces
