LANSING, Mich. — The number of positive cases of the coronavirus in Michigan has increased to 32,967.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) reported the latest numbers of cases in the coronavirus outbreak this afternoon.
The number of cases has increased 967 from yesterday, when there were 32,000 statewide cases. Yesterday, the state reported 576 new cases.
The state says there have been 2,700 coronavirus deaths in Michigan.
The number of deaths has increased 232 from yesterday, when there were 2,468 statewide deaths. Yesterday, the state reported 77 new deaths.
Statewide, 3,237 people have recovered from the virus as of April 17. A person is considered "recovered" by the state if they are "30 days out from their onset of illness."
In the U.S., there are 810,561 cases, and there have been 43,630 deaths — while 73,987 people have recovered, according to the global COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
