GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A west Michigan man is on the road to recovery from Covid-19 at home in Howard City.

Don Force went to the Spectrum Health ER on March 29th after telling his wife he "felt funny and wasn't feeling good."

Once there, he was quickly moved to ICU, and that's about the last thing he remembers about Intensive Care before the doctor asked him about "pulling the tube out".

Force had spent ten days in the ICU on a ventilator and says it took him several days before he could speak again after his tube was removed. He later went on to Mary Free Bed as the first member of its new ReCOVery unit, where he spent twelve days of hard work that paid off.

Tuesday, Force left Mary Free Bed as the second graduate of its Re-COV-ery unit and went home on his 61st birthday.

"Just going home is probably the best present I can ask for," he told the staff at the rehabilitation center. He said he was most excited about his chair, wife and cat all waiting for him back home in Howard City.
