NEWAYGO, Mich. — Newaygo Public Schools announced the high school will be closed Monday, September 21, due to COVID-19.

"We have confirmed COVID case(s)" the announcement reads, indicating there is more than one person affected. "High School students - check your Google Classroom [Monday] and stay tuned."

According to a post on the school's Facebook page and confirmed on the school website, the people involved do not have siblings in other schools and don't ride the buses.

The school is working with the Newaygo County Health Department to contact anyone who came in close contact with those people.

Athletes who have not been contacted can still practice and play.

The middle school and elementary schools will remain open for the time being, and more decisions will be made later Monday.
