VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. — The significant increase in COVID-19 cases has affected the Van Buren/Cass County Health Department’s contact tracing efforts.

Individuals and their close contacts may not receive a phone call from the health department because contact tracing capacity has been reached, according to a news release Wednesday.

This is despite help from partner organizations and increased staffing.

The department will focus on continuing case investigations and contact tracing in nursing homes, hospitals and schools as well as clusters identified as priority, such as those in high-risk congregate settings.

They’ll also continue assisting businesses with COVID-related issues.
