LANSING, Mich. — Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer provided an update on the state's response to COVID-19 on Wednesday afternoon, and the secretary of state discussed election issues.

Whitmer and MDHHS Chief Medical Executive Dr. Joneigh Khaldun gave the update as the state now has 113,863 total cases of COVID-19 and 6,623 deaths from the virus.
They were also joined by Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, who gave an update on the Nov. 3 general election and the different voting opportunities Michiganders can use.
The state will begin sending absentee ballots out in just over a week.
