HASTINGS, Mich. — A man has been charged with arson in connection to a large factory fire in Hastings last week.

Keigan Sochor, 21, of Hastings, was charged with third-degree arson, among other charges, a news release said Thursday.

The charge carries a maximum possible penalty of 10 years in prison and/or a $20,000 fine.

The fire from Oct. 7 burned the Royal Coach Building to the ground.

Records show Sochor also has eight other court encounters over the past four years. They include charges of breaking and entering, larceny, and trespassing. All occurred in Barry County.

Bond for his arrest in the Hastings fire incident is set at $250,000 cash or surety.

Sochor was arraigned Thursday in Barry County District.

A probable cause conference is set for Oct. 28 at 8:15 a.m. in Hastings District Court.
