(WXYZ) — Michigan State Police in West Branch says their narcotics team seized more meth in the month of January than in the last three years combined.
The STING (Strike Team Investigative Narcotics Team) is a multijurisdictional task force covering Crawford, Roscommon, Iosco, Arenac, Ogemaw, and Oscoda Counties. It is run by MSP.
Officials say they seized 459.5 grams of meth in 8 cases in January, compared with 442.2 grams of meth in 118 cases for all of 2018, 2019, and 2020.
The meth, which is known as "one-pot" meth is sold in one-gram increments when sold, with more than 5 grams being uncommon since it became more popular from 2010 to 2014.
Michigan State Police are asking anyone who may have information about the use of or distribution of illegal narcotics in Crawford, Roscommon, Iosco, Arenac, Ogemaw, and Oscoda Counties to make an anonymous tip at www.stingnarcotics.com.
