NILES, Mich. — A man in a vehicle made sexual comments and exposed himself to a 25-year-old woman Wednesday afternoon in Niles.

It happened about 2:30 p.m. in the 900 block of Michigan Street, according to the Niles Police Department on Thursday.

Police describe him as a Black man in his 50s in a silver car.

The make of the vehicle and license plate information wasn’t known.

He drove off when the woman walked away and he never left his car during the incident.

About half an hour later, a man in a silver car drove next to an 11-year-old girl in the 1400 block of Hickory Street in Niles.

This man was described as being Black and in his 20s and driving a newer vehicle.

License plate information and the make of the vehicle weren’t available.

The man asked the girl if she needed a ride and told her to get into the car.

She told him “no,” and a passerby realized she might need help and assisted her to safety as the vehicle drove away.

The driver never left the vehicle or approached the girl.

Niles police don’t know if the two incidents are related, but investigators are working to gather more information.

Anyone with information about either of these incidents may contact the Niles Police Detective Bureau at 269-683-0404.

Police also urge people – especially children – not to accept rides from strangers.
