GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A former press secretary to Gov. John Engler called Tuesday night’s debate “a debate of missed opportunities.”

John Truscott, CEO of Truscott Rossman, tells Fox 17 that President Donald Trump and Democratic nominee Joe Biden did not use their time productively to educate the audience.

“For undecideds, if anything, it may drive them away or discourage them from voting if this is what politics has become, which is basically Twitter on a stage,” Truscott said.

Both candidates had opportunities they should've taken advantage of, such as Biden explaining which of the Trump administration’s policies he wants to repeal.

Trump, on the other hand, should have answered the Supreme Court question more methodically and positively, Truscott said.

“I thought it was a debate of missed opportunities and one of a lot of frustration for the viewers,” he said.
