Logan Grimes, a 25-year-old from Michigan, was one of dozens of people arrested Wednesday by Metro D.C. Police. The day after, his step-father found out about the arrest during an interview with FOX 17.
“I know he’s been active in politics…or peaceful protests," Andrew Hanselman said. "I don’t know if he actually entered the capitol or not,”
According to DC Metro Police, Grimes was arrested on Vermont Avenue in Washington D.C. on January 6. That's about two blocks north of the White House, and more than 2 miles from the Capitol Building.
He faces charges of carrying a pistol without a license, possession of a large capacity ammunition feeding device, and possession of unregistered ammunition. Grimes is one of at least six people from Michigan arrested by DC Metro Police on Wednesday.

Hanselman, a disabled veteran who served in Iraq, says Wednesday's riot in Washingtonwas beyond belief.
“I don’t know what words to use, it was just so disgusting.”
When FOX 17 informed Hanselman of the charges Grimes is facing, he had one reaction, and one reaction only: "Oh my god."
Hanselman spoke candidly about a call for an end to the division in our country.
“The vitriol and the hatred have just grown so out of hand,” Hanselman said.
He said he doesn't want to disclose Grimes' personal information. But one thing Hanselman says he is certain of...is what happened in DC Wednesday is something that should anger every American, on every side of the aisle. The veteran went as far as to say the danger he feels the president has caused, needs to face the most severe consequences.
“I ask, and I do not take this lightly. I ask and implore, Vice President Pence, to gather the cabinet, and discuss invoking the 25th amendment for this president,” Hanselman said.
